Smith Brothers have started work on the first of Arlington Energy’s storage and gas peaking projects in Sheffield, UK. The site will provide backup power generation to the National Grid once completed.
Smith Brothers will provide all of the engineering, procurement and construction work for the short term operating reserve (STOR) project. The site will be formed of eight 2.5MW gas generators and an 11kV switchboard and will be surrounded by an acoustic barrier fence to reduce noise pollution. The company is also working with the Northern Power Grid to establish a 66kV power generation connection for the plant.
